Rondsje Om Terschelling: New Virtual Indoor Rowing Event Launches This Winter West-Terschelling - Brock Sampson, instructor at Island Gym, is launching Rondsje Om Terschelling, a new virtual indoor rowing event that combines competition, training, and island rowing heritage. The event runs from January 16 to February 13 and concludes with live rowing races at Island Gym during the weekend of February 14-15. Rondsje Om Terschelling is designed for beginners, hybrid athletes, sloep rowers, and competitive rowers. Participants train individually or in teams and work toward a self-chosen distance, ranging from a 500-meter sprint to a full marathon. Results are tracked via a digital leaderboard, allowing participants to compete virtually against others on Terschelling and the mainland. The event also serves as an effective winter training option, enabling rowers to maintain strength and technique when on-water training is limited. Participants can train at a gym or at home, as long as they have access to a rowing machine and the ErgZone app. In addition, participants can choose to row for charity, supporting Spieren voor Spieren. "Everyone can take part," says Sampson. "Young or old, beginner or experienced, alone or as a team-set your goal and row."
